Matt played both Football and Rugby at very high level, until breaking his leg 7 years ago. Unable to play again, he turned to his sport science background and started training with more of a purpose.
He has been training, and training his friends for the past 10 years or so, starting off by dabbling with powerlifting and bodybuilding principles. He found Olympic Weightlifting and CrossFit around 2011. Since then, Matt’s training has revolved around cycles of CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifitng, Powerlifting and Strongman training.
Massively missing the social aspect of team sports, Matt has a massive emphasis on making sure that everyone who comes to Ivy is part of Team Ivy. He has created a relaxed, enjoyable and supportive environment for all to flourish.
Matt’s philosophy on training:
Enjoy it. Take it slowly and sensibly, and enjoy it.
